Evening Update & New Pics

She's been really quiet for us except for the occasional--hurry up I want some food--NOW!

She's starting to open her eyes a lot more now. Annika and I just scarfed down some really good hospital food (no joke--it was good!). I had meatloaf (one of my favs) and Annika had an open-faced hot turkey sandwich.

I went home again over lunch to hang with Tyler and he was just so darn cute: "Daddy stay, take jacket off, play with mower in garage (I stored his toy mower in the garage next to my real one and he just thinks he's so awesome)". So of course we went outside and "mowed the lawn" and played with dirt.

The plan is for us to checkout of the hospital early tomorrow afternoon if all goes well. Annika is doing good but as expected the incision is painful. Keep the prayers going up!

A Visit from Grandma Beth & Aunt Laura

Daddy's Girl

I've looked forward to this day for many years as I've always wanted a little girl so I could take her to all the cute father-daughter events at Church, etc.

Annika is doing better today after a rough morning dealing with pain. She was able to walk around by herself and will probably go up and down the hallway this afternoon. Unfortunately due to the H1N1 scare, we are not allowed to bring Tyler to the hospital to meet his sister. No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the maternity ward even with proof of H1N1 vaccination.

Mommy and baby are sleeping now so I'm going to try and catch a few zz's myself  before heading home to play with Tyler over lunch. The Baumgardner clan is dutifully watching Tyler and he is no doubt loving all the attention but at the same time missing mommy and daddy. He is already asking about meeting his baby sister but is going to have to wait until tomorrow afternoon when we come home.

Your continued prayers for Annika's recovery are greatly appreciated!

Up Close & Personal

Annika is going to try and get up again in a few minutes as last time she nearly blacked out. Please keep her in your prayers as they like you to get up and sit in a chair 12 hours after the surgery so we are a bit behind. At the 18 / 24 hr mark you are suppose to be able to take a shower and right now I'm sure Annika would love nothing more than to take a shower after this ordeal. Sabrina is sleeping and eating like a champ!

Update & New Pictures

Annika and the baby are napping now so I thought I would take a minute to post some new pictures. Sabrina was delivered via c-section as she was breech. As many of you know she was quite the gymnast in there since pretty much every week she would change positions radically from vertex to breech and back again--just last Wednesday she was perfectly vertex.

Annika is recovering slowly from the procedure so we are taking it easy today. She still has not been able to get out of bed but that is most likely due to the fact she has not eaten since 1 PM yesterday (and the major surgery). She just gobbled down some chicken broth so hopefully that does the trick!

The staff at Paoli has been absolutely wonderful and we thank God for them. We've prayed for this day so long and God's hand has been powerfully evident.

First Picture!

Here she is! More later :-)

Announcing Sabrina Grace Chiodi

At 10:16 PM Sabrina Grace Chiodi was born 7 lbs 7 oz, 21 inches! Mom and baby are recovering. Pictures to come soon. Keep us in your prayers!

At the Hospital We Are!

Well, it looks like we will be having our baby very soon. Annika called me at work today around 4 to say that her water had broke and that I should come home ASAP. Needless to say I shutdown my laptop faster than I have ever done before (OK, i just closed the lid and stuffed it into my bag not really caring if it had actually shutdown, gone to sleep or whatever).

As is customary at hospitals we've been doing a lot of waiting around for results (and if the proposed health care overhaul goes through you know this wait time will probably triple). Right now they are still not actually 100% sure if her water broke or not but we're told we should know by 9. Please keep us in your prayers and check back often for updates.
